Just One Taste by Carly Phillips

Asher needs to help his best friend Derek by taking his sister, Nikki, to his island home to get her away for a scandal. For Nikki, having her privacy violated is surprising with how it was done but coming from her well-known political family, not completely unexpected. But getting away from the city is the best news she’s heard so she can regroup while her brother figures out how this happened. The first time Asher met Nikki, he didn’t get the best impression which may make this a long trip. Nikki is bothered by Asher’s grumpiness and works very hard to get to know him. I love how she figures out his buttons to press which has him opening up and loosening up with her. They end up having a fun time getting to know each other which of course, leads to an attraction neither can stop. What will Derek say if they become a couple? Will Asher realize he can find love? Or will he stick to his no relationship rule? I had fun finding out and enjoyed taking this escape with them. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

What an unexpected and wonderful romance. Autumn and Lukas find themselves married because of a family promise. The plan is to fulfill the promise for Autumn’s grandfather and then have an annulment. Well, 5 years have passed and suddenly Autumn is called to Lukas’ bedside after he’s been shot. Even though they haven’t lived together as husband and wife, they had been exchanging emails and building a solid friendship. Now they find themselves sharing a suite as Lukas recuperates. Will they realize that love is possible? Lukas is very hesitant to allow love in his life since everyone he’s loved has left him. Autumn is trying to show her family she can take over the family business. I really loved how they had built a solid friendship as pen pals which they were able to build on as they navigate their new situation with Autumn’s family. Lukas is a fabulous supporter for Autumn without being overbearing. I enjoyed all the nuances to their journey. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Second Chance Mine by M. Robinson

Adrian and Paige carry a lot of history and hurt feelings. When they end up working together 10 years later, Adrian pulls out all the overbearing and controlling actions he has to convince Paige that he deserves a second chance. To make it even crazier, Paige has a stalker and as these two work on repairing their relationship, the stalker gets more aggressive. One of their biggest challenges comes from Cade, Adrian’s brother and Paige’s former best friend, and everyone not wanting to let him down. There is a lot to keep you interested in this story but for me, I felt like I had read this story before from this author. I was also frustrated by the lack of editing, almost as if this story was rushed to be released which let me down.
