My Review:
Dare To Stay (Dare Nation)Dare To Stay by Carly Phillips
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Braden and Willow gave me a fabulous second chance romance. Braden has returned home after 2 years with Doctors without Borders and finds himself as the head doctor for the football team. When he left 2 years ago, he was struggling with his place in his family and career but is now confident in what he wants to do. One of his first priorities is to win Willow back. She is his one regret when he left. Willow has dealt with people leaving her all her life. After ending up in foster care, she learned to guard her feelings so when Braden announced he was leaving, well, it was just one more person that let her down. Knowing he is back and will be working with the same team she does, well, she is using all her strength to keep everything professional. But Braden has a plan on how to show Willow that he is here to stay and she can trust him. But will she let her walls down to embrace this chance at love? I loved getting to experience their careers and how Braden brings his desire to do mission work to the community. This added a beautiful element to the story. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Teaser: Bet the Farm by Staci Hart

Staci Hart has a brand new rom-com standalone coming February 23rd! Bet the Farm is a heartfelt, flirty story of opposites attract and I cannot WAIT to read it! Mark your calendars and pre-order your copy today!

Amazon | AppleBooks | Kobo | B&N | Goodreads

I went down like a windmill, one socked foot in the air and arms wheeling. The calf had still grazed me, and the force combined with my graceless fall slammed me into the ground.

My ribs quaked, my lungs empty from the shock and locked by the pain. Stunned, I watched the calves tromp around me, knowing I needed to curl up or crawl away or call for help. Only I couldn’t move or speak, too busy trying to unlock my lungs and hear past the ring in my ears.

A sharp whistle cut through the chaos, and the calves trotted to the other side of the pen. The sun hammered me into the mud.

Breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t—

Shade cast over me, and I cracked my eyes to see a silhouette of Jake against the crisp blue sky.

He gathered me to sit, bracing my body against his and inspecting me as best he could. “Are you hurt?”

I shook my head. “Can’t … breathe …”

“You can, just look at me.”

When I met his eyes, I would have told him that was the dumbest thing he’d ever suggested, provided I could speak. Because it was impossible to breathe with his face inches from mine. His eyes were narrowed in concern, the green of his irises crisp and vibrant, even in the shade. Maybe it was the lack of oxygen. I was probably hallucinating. No one could be this perfect, every feature symmetric and aligned. He had to have a flaw besides his shitty attitude. Hairy ears, maybe.

When he turned his head to check my limbs, I noted his stupid ears were perfect too.

Jerk.

Olivia Brent has one summer to save the dairy farm she just inherited.

But there’s one problem, and it’s not her lactose intolerance.

Jake Milovic.

The brooding farmhand has inherited exactly fifty percent of Brent Farm, and he’s so convinced the city girl can’t work the land, he bets she can’t save it in a summer.

Determined to prove him wrong, Olivia accepts what might be the dumbest wager of her life.

His strategy to win seems simple: follow her around, shirtlessly distracting her between bouts of relentless taunting. And it’s effective—if his dark eyes and rare smiles aren’t enough to sidetrack her, the sweaty, rolling topography of the manbeast’s body would do the trick.

What they don’t know: they’ll have to weather more than each other.

Mysterious circumstances throw the farm into disarray, and with the dairy farm in danger, Olivia and Jake have to work together. But when they do, there’s more to fear than either of them imagined.

Because now their hearts are on the line, and the farm won’t be the only casualty if they fail.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

I love that Eve is focused on building her dream, her own yoga studio. When Miles shows up in Carmel Cove, she finds herself drawn to this intense man that is hiding so many secrets. My Review:
Gimme S'more (Hot Cakes #6)Gimme S'more by Erin Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ollie is a fun character. His imagination is incredible and it takes his friends to help make his ideas a reality. They often have to apply restraint but it’s so much fun to experience. Piper comes in to help keep Ollie focused on track to for the video game they developed. She loves post-it notes and organization, something Ollie doesn’t understand, but together, they make a great team and Ollie gets his work done. Along the way, Piper falls in love with all of Ollie’s wonderful craziness. Ollie however, doesn’t believe he is worthy or love or that he can love someone. Getting him to realize this is a hard task but Piper is definitely up for the challenge. I love Piper and she had to make some hard choices in this story to get what her heart desires. She also had to realize she needed to open up and be more spontaneous to let Ollie soar. Ollie has to grow up a little and open his eyes to what has been around him the whole time. Even though his biological family doesn’t know how to handle him, he had created his own family to love. Love all the members of the fabulous Hot Cakes family and how they have built an incredible bond to love and support each other. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Excerpt

The guys were going to kill him.

Ollie scrubbed a hand over his face.

They wouldn’t be surprised, of course. But they were going to be pissed.

They’d all known that Piper quitting was a risk and that one day she’d probably wise-up and lose her patience and that would be it.

They’d also all known that when it happened there was a 90 percent chance it would be because of Ollie.

The other 10 percent chance was that it would be because of Ollie and Dax together.

And now it had finally happened.

If it came down to choosing between him and Piper, he wasn’t sure he wanted to know how that debate would end up. Or how short the discussion would be before they decided they wanted and needed her more.

That was only one of the reasons he hadn’t told them yet.

The other was because he was still processing the part where she’d said she loved him.

What was he supposed to do with that?

She wasn’t just supposed to say that out loud right to him, was she? He had not been expecting that. The guys and their girlfriends had insinuated for a while now that Piper might have a crush on him but no, he hadn’t expected her to ever say anything herself.

It was a might have. A crush. Okay, they were adults and maybe adults didn’t have crushes exactly, but everything anyone had said suggested that it was just that Piper thought he was interesting at times and that she didn’t hate spending time with him.

But a crush wasn’t love. For fuck’s sake.

And it had to be Piper?

Piper Barry was amazing. She was gorgeous. She was smart. She was capable. She could do anything. She was funny and sweet and sassy and tough.

She was intimidating as hell.

What was he supposed to do with her now?

What was he supposed to do without her now?

Well, the solution seemed pretty obvious. She’d basically given him the answer herself—I can’t be in love with you and work for you. And the only one of those two things I can change is the working for you part.

So he needed to get her to not be in love with him anymore. Then she’d come back to work and all would be fine.

Now he just had to get her to realize she could do a hell of a lot better than him.

Of course, he’d been a pain in her ass for five years now. If that didn’t do it, he wasn’t sure what would.

My Review:
FightFight by Nicole Dykes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an amazing story that delivers all the heartache and struggle that life can throw at you while showing you that hope and love are possible. Shaw and Carter met in grade school and became immediate best friends. They life a hard live where not all the bills are paid every month so they learn early that you can’t always have everything you want. Dane made their duo a trio of best friends. They are each other’s life lines when life gets them down or they need help. Though, none of them like to ask for help. They have all learned to make do and find a way to survive. The love that I felt between Shaw and Carter is there from the beginning but Carter doesn’t feel he is worthy of love or is good enough for Shaw. This frustrated me but also made perfect sense as I got to know these amazing group of friends. This journey tore at my heart then put it back together. Loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
