My heart is full from Evie’s story. I experienced every up and down with her through this honest, heart-felt and compelling journey. When her mother is diagnosed with an aggressive dementia, Evie changes the direction of her life and becomes her caregiver. The woman that is her hero and best friend, changes before her eyes as she loses her memory. Everything centers around her mother, especially after her father walks away because he can’t watch the love of his life fade away. When Evie meets Butler, she finds joy and happiness again, something she had lost. But with this comes overwhelming guilt that she is taking time away from her mother. The struggle to allow herself to have a life away from her mother is real and honest. Her trust that anyone can accept her reality is low. I did get frustrated that she wasn’t honest with Butler but I understood her fears. He truly is the right guy at the right time for her if only she can accept that. I cried, I laughed, as I took this journey with Evie. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
