He lives and breathes hockey but a recent accident climbing has caused injuries that have the potential to force him to stop playing. Escaping to an island for his brother’s wedding is just what he needs as a distraction. Kim has built a successful law career and never takes time away from her client’s but for her cousin, she is headed to the islands for her wedding. What neither Max or Kim expects is to find a romance at this wedding. For Kim, long-term relationships and marriage aren’t something she wants in her life, not after handling so many messy divorces. For Max, he wants that one person to come home to that is a partner in his life. As the sparks fly between these two, they agree to a wedding fling but can they really prevent having feelings for each other? This is an intense brother’s best friend, second chance romance. From the moment Caleb and Evie met, there was an immediate connection but everything changed when Caleb finds out she is Jax’s sister. The Ruthless Groom by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Charlotte and Perry are like chess pieces to their families but they are choosing to make the best out of their arranged marriage. I was excited for how the twist of Charlotte’s ex would be woven into this new relationship. I love how these two embraced the chemistry that they didn’t expect and found common ground. What I didn’t love was Perry’s insecurities with Charlotte and how rude he would be to her though I do get it. These two are from families that really don’t get along so his family, the Constantine’s, will always question her family. It also shows Perry’s struggle with his place in the family. I will say, Charlotte does a great job of handling his whiplash behavior and works to solidify that these two can have something real together. Yes, we end on a crazy intense cliff hanger that has me anxious for book 3.

Marlow and Jackson took me on a fabulous friend to lover’s romantic journey. Both of them struggle with long term relationships but found incredible sexual chemistry together. There are rules, the biggest one is no feelings. Jackson however is wanting more out of their arrangement. Seeing his friends find the loves of their lives has opened his eyes to possibilities he never imagined. The challenge is will Marlow feel the same way. He takes a chance on New Year’s Eve and they share an incredible kiss, will this be the start of something new for them? Marlow has been let down by so many people but her father has left her in a financial bind. She is determined to fix this problem on her own however an eviction notice changes everything. For Jackson, the opportunity to have Marlow living with him doesn’t scare him and is something he is excited about. I really enjoyed how this relationship developed. Even with living together, they are both a little tentative as they embrace cohabitation. Marlow has to learn how to trust that Jackson is going to stay in her life and not leave. They both have to figure out how to open up and let someone else support and lift them up as they face life’s daily challenges. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
