Sam and Avery gave me a wonderful second chance romance. These two were high school sweethearts but then Avery’s mom got sick and she broke it off with Sam to take care of her. She didn’t want him to not pursue his dreams because of her. Noble but probably misguided. It does allow them to find their passion and build lives separate from each other. Sam loves being a doctor and has returned to Chicago to be closer to his family. As he is working on getting an apartment, he finds an option in the alumni group but so does Avery except she needs a roommate. Well, of course these two sweethearts can share an apartment as friends. Yea, none of their friends or family believe it. I enjoyed the struggle as they tried to stay platonic but the fall was even better. Their connection is immediate, that love they found as teenagers never faded which makes this reunion so much sweeter. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
