What a fabulous enemies to lovers romance. This couple surprised me as I got to know them and really understood the underlying struggles that each one was facing. For Katie, she has been pretending to be the perfect girlfriend for years but when Declan shatters that illusion, it is the wake up call she needs. Now she needs to figure out who Katie really is and what is her passion in life. Renovating her aunt’s home becomes the perfect project as she learns to navigate social media and share this journey. Beckett is the black sheep in his family since he pursued a career in construction and not the family business. Even though he is wealthy through his family, he loves creating things with his hands so when his best friend needs him to assist with the renovation, he gladly says yes. He never expects to end up with Katie as his partner. There are so many reasons that these two shouldn’t be together, Katie’s ex is Beckett’s brother, Beckett is best friends with Duke who is Katie’s brother. Oh the tangled webs. I had fun with their banter as they kept pushing each other’s buttons. They prove to be a strong team but each one carries scars from their past that they need to fix before they are truly open for love. I had fun taking this journey with them. So much angst and drama. Clay thinks he’s in the clear now the Nova went back east but he gets a real surprise when he finds her painting a wall at the stadium. Nova is surprised that the team owner has asked her to create a mural for the team for the gala event. She is excited about the challenge but also nervous about staying away from Clay. He broke her heart when she thought they had found something spectacular. I love Nova’s conviction as she juggles her encounters with Clay. Clay is struggling since he can’t get Nova out of his head. At the same time, he needs to find a way to build up the team which he’s never done before. His focus has always been just on himself and his game. I am enjoying his journey as he opens up to love, it’s getting him to change other things in his life. Yet, he still has a deal with Harlan to get traded to LA. Or has his priorities changed? I’m loving this journey with all the ups and downs that many people face as they navigate careers and love. We end with another big decision that may ruin everything. Bring on part 3. I love Lix’s story and how this concludes the Daxon brother’s journey. The Daxon brother’s banded together to work with a Domestic Abuse Center to help women that don’t know where to turn to get help to get out of a bad situation. They do this because of what they experienced in their own lives as children when they wished their mom had someone to reach out to. For Lix, a new woman shows up, Chosen, which they link is about the help they provide but she’s only interested in Lix. For Chosen, she is in search of answers relating to her uncle’s death which she believes Lix holds. As Lix and Chosen get to know each other, they find that fate has played a hand in bringing them together. But Lix doesn’t see himself as someone who can love or be loved so Chosen has a challenge on her hands to help him realize he is worthy of love. There are so many great twists to this story and I love the premise and mission that the Daxon brothers have taken on. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
