I have to admit, this is my first Rachel Van Dyken mafia story and I LOVED every minute of it. Violet and Breaker have a natural connection and struggle to fight their attraction at every turn. Violet is an Italian mafia princess and Breaker is her protector. Anything beyond that is forbidden. There is a tenuous balance between the Italian and Russian mobs in Chicago but then one evening, Violet is in the wrong place which puts her the Russian mob’s path. Now, this story is full of fantastic twists and turns that kept me guessing and hoping as I was pulled into it’s web that I don't want to give away. I also love that Violet and Breaker are surrounded by the “kids” from the families which give the story another layer of camaraderie, depth and intrigue. Even though these characters have other books, I don't think I missed anything jumping with this book first. I'm excited to read all the other books connected to the families.
