New Release & Review: The Freshman by Monica Murphy

The Freshman by Monica Murphy is now live!

New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off her new College Years series with a forbidden romance between two people who are undeniably drawn to each other...

I started flirting with a guy while waiting for my car to be serviced. Now granted, he wasn’t just any guy. Tall. Dark. Hot. Mysterious. Can you blame me for wanting to talk to him? He’s in town visiting his parents. So am I. He goes to the same college as I do. Such a coincidence. Almost as if our meeting is destined...

But I shouldn’t believe in that sort of thing. I am single as a Pringle and always ready to mingle. Until I keep running into Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious everywhere I go. Tony Sorrento. Turns out he’s on the football team. I mean, I’m not one to chase after a sexy jock but, okay. I’m down. And did I mention he’s only a freshman?

Our fathers are business rivals, and they forbid us from dating. We need to keep this on the low. Can we remain friendly? Sure. Maybe turn our friendship into friends with benefits? Most definitely. Here’s the thing though. I didn’t plan on catching feelings for him so quickly. Seems like he’s falling pretty hard for me too.

Defying our fathers’ wishes is only asking for trouble, but is being with Tony worth the risk?

My Review:
The Freshman (College Years, #1)The Freshman by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tony and Hayden have that chance encounter at a car dealership, seems their fathers have the same great taste and got them the same cars. To their surprise, they strike up an easy and comfortable conversation, learning that they attend the same university. It’s crazy how they connect over their belief that relationships are doomed and neither one wants to be in one. They also learn that their fathers are bitter enemies and don’t want them to talk to each other. Well, isn’t that the perfect reason for them to become friends but will they add friends with benefits to the mix. I loved that I got to know what makes Tony tick and the true impact his parent’s divorce and ultimate ignoring of him has shaped how he acts and what he believes. Hayden thinks she is anti-relationship but being with Tony opens her up which makes her a great influence on Tony. Love that the crew of friends are there supporting Tony and Hayden while allowing me to experience how their lives are moving forward. All of this makes me excited for the rest of their stories. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
