BOOK BLURB

Deformed. Dangerous. Damned. One night ripped my life away and left me a monsterโ€”the scarred gargoyle of a man who lived in the stained-glass shadows of a crumbling cathedral, selling my soul in order to seek vengeance on those who destroyed my life. Until one day, the chimes I heard werenโ€™t from the bell tower of Notre Dame, but from the bejeweled gypsy invading my space. Though she swears her research is legitimate, her beauty shimmers with secrets. I canโ€™t trust glittering eyes that arenโ€™t repulsed by me, nor the tempting smile that is laden with lust. I canโ€™t trust her.

So, Iโ€™ll watch and waitโ€ฆ and ignore how her sharp wit and bewitching charm scorch the shackles of my restraint and enchant me into her fire. Iโ€™ll uncover the truth before she gets too close. Before she sees the broken man beneath the scarred beast. And before I give into her temptation.

Sheโ€™s a threat to everything Iโ€™ve worked forโ€”a threat to my cathedral and a threat to my revenge. And, most dangerous of all, a threat to my stone cold heart.

My Review:
The Gargoyle and the Gypsy (The Sacred Duet, #1)The Gargoyle and the Gypsy by Rebecca Sharp
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Compelling and thought-provoking journey for two lost souls that are trying to find peace. Quintonโ€™s world revolves around revenge and avenging his motherโ€™s death. There isnโ€™t room for anything else in his life as he lives in the shadows to hunt down information and find ways to destroy the man that took away his mother. Living in Notre Dame is his refuge that allows him to protect this sacred cathedral too. When Esme walks in with her vibrant personality, he does what he always does and suspects she is a spy. Esme is passionate about her work to 3-D image historical buildings to record and document how each was truly constructed. Getting the chance to do this at Notre Dame is a dream come true. When she crosses paths with Monsieur Gargoyle, she is immediately intrigued and drawn to him. Deep down they share more than they realize. There are so many amazing layers to this journey that kept me turning the page in anticipation of what would happen next. I had moments that gave me overwhelming hope but then there were times of great pain and sorrow which werenโ€™t always easy to read. Each moment is necessary to truly appreciate a love that can bloom for despair. But this isnโ€™t the end of their journey and right now, Iโ€™m desperate for book 2. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
